Vanadium in drinking water supplies – it’s usually not detected, but some areas have elevated levels, especially some third world countries. I studied where it comes from, and if there are known interferences (false positives) in the chemical analysis. Fly ash from combustion of less refined fuel oils seems to be a major source. Vanadium is one of the few metals present in crude petroleum; nickel and chromium are the others. Porphyrin compounds in ancient plants may be responsible.
